What Jasper wanted to know: Don't you use a rotary rake, Erik? And if you don't use a rake: is there a particular reasen you don't?

@Jasperfendt We dont have a rake but we have an auto swather on our mower, as you can see in some of my pics But at this field the customer used his own mover so we didnt have that option Besides some places there was so much grass that one swath was more than enough to handle

@SJB533 we use an auto swather on the mower, we have so little nice weather here that theres no time for the grass to dry anyway so that way we save a tractor and a driver since we just put 2 swaths in to one This guys used his own mower so we weren't able to use the auto swather, and there was alot of grass in some of his field so a rake would be way to much

You don't use tedders in Norway and the period in which grass lays on the field is very short, like in the UK, right?

@SJB533 Hehe, okai i see some contractors use rakes here, raking like 2 or 3 swaths in to one. We usually use the auto swather cause it does a very good job and dosent pick up stone as easy as a rake would do (alot of stones in the ground here) Also if there is alot of grass we dont need to use the auto swather The guys who use rakes makes very wet bales cause there so much grass going it to the baler at once that they cant get all the water out. You are right, the grass may lay on the field for like 5-6 hours before it gets baled. Sometimes we are lucky and can mowe the grass one day ahead or something

@SJB533 The 920 dont have PTO at the front yet but im planning to put it on in the future and then i want to buy a mower at the front also But thas just dreaming for now, alot of other things to spend money on at the time

@Erik307 do you know how much moisture these bales normally contain?

I think on such a tractor, an FPTO would be a nice investment, but it will be expensive. Maybe you even could try more capacity with a triple mower, or would the bales get more moisture in it?

@SJB533 There are used PTO kits in denmark that dont cost too much but a front mower isnt free either so A tripple mower would be nice but if we had one with an autoswather i think that many places it would been too much grass. Many places there is an insane amount of grass The baler barely has time to wrap the bale before a new one is done

Importing won't be that expensive. You'll only need a good vacation
Is it raining every day at your place? Because you have such short fieldperiods. Over here we do silage in about 1.5-2 days and then we reach about 65% moisture.

Hay needs a maximum of 20% moisture, about a week of drying in the sun and wind and a few times of tedding and raking. I don't think, you'll reach that kind of percentage, right?

@SJB533 in a good year you could be lucy and reach that percentage if your timing is right. This year is something special though, really bad weather, 12 degrees, wind and rain so if there is a sunny day we just have to go for it even if the grass is a little wet

@SJB533 last year was awesome, but this year has been really bad so far . Maybe like a week with nice weather or something. Now we are waiting for nice weather to start the second cut but i dont seem to be comming, been raining for like 2 weeks now
